The salesperson selling the new car values the customer's car at the desk, appraises it on a phone in the lot, and has the used-car manager's approval back while the customer waits. The customer takes home a sheet with the allowance, what's owed and the hand-over date, in English and Arabic. The car comes into stock at what it cost.

The deal keeps everything the dealer stands behind. The sheet the customer takes home carries only what they said yes to, in English beside Arabic, worked out to the dirham.

Yousef keeps driving the Land Cruiser until the new one arrives on Thursday. The sheet printed one condition: handed over as appraised, with no more than 3,000 km added. Whoever takes the car checks it on a phone, and the check says which way it goes before anyone presses.

A financed car's checklist
When the bank is still owed.
Huda Karim still owes Gulf Crescent Bank on the Palisade Hamad agreed at Airport Road. The letter goes on the deal, the fee fills in at the Central Bank's 1% cap, and what's left goes towards the new car. Once the car is in, its transfer checklist keeps the bank, the RTA and the customer's money in the safe order.
